FAQ's Many woodworkers have questions they want to ask about the extensive range of products we stock, unlike many on-line stores, we encourage discussion by telephone, however we also understand that questions may arise outside business hours and have prepared the following list of Frequently Asked Questions to assist. Q: Where do I use the various T Tracks, Scale Tracks & Mitre Channels? A: Making your own jigs and fixtures can be very satisfying and also add greatly to the speed and accuracy of your work. Put simply; - T Tracks are used to provide locating and hold down points on your table or jig, our genuine Incra Tracks accept a 1/4" Hex bolt available from most hardware outlets and specialist bolt shops, they also accept our 1/4" Rectangular s Nuts. T Tracks require a 3/4" x 1/2" recess (19.25 x 12.7mm) See Download Link below
- Scale Tracks function very much the same as T Tracks but have the added advantage of a inbuilt Lexan scale, this scale can be adjusted so as to give easy referencing of fence positions etc. Scale Track can also be used above the table with Track Locks and Flip Stops in fence applications. Scale Tracks require a 1 1/4" x 1/2" recess (32 x 12.7mm)
- Mitre Channels are used to guide Mitre Gauges, Coping Sleds and shop built jigs accurately and safely, they accept a standard 3/4" x 3/8" mitre bars and sliders, they require a 29.25 x 12.7mm recess.
All tracks and channels are hard anodised for durability, mill finish aluminium is subject to marring. Other tracks may not work with economical 1/4" hex headed bolts, check carefully before being forced to use specialty fasteners. Q: What scales are available for the Incra scale track and fences? A: Metric scales are available as follows; | ←←←←Right to Left Reading | Left to Right Reading→→→→ | | 410 - 0 | 0 - 410 | | 820 - 410 | 410 - 820 | | 1220 - 820 | 820 - 1220 | | | | | | |
Q: What are your Nylon washers used for? A: When tightening attachments to T Tracks, we find that as the knobs we sell are made from tough very hard plastic (Phenolic or Polypropylene) that placing a Nylon washer between the fixture (stop, slide etc.) and the knob makes for easier, more positive tightening, particularly when only finger pressure is used. Q: What routers fit with your router lifts? A: Just about any plunge router will work with the UniLIFT, the manufacturers of the Triton TRA-001 have duplicated the Porter Cable PC7518 base plate mounting holes, many other Taiwanese & Chinese manufacturers adopt this practice. If for some reason your router doesn't fit the UniLIFT, we can supply a blank mounting plate so you can drill it to suit your router. Q: If I want to start off with a basic router table system and upgrade as finances allow, how do I start? A: We suggest that you start with a Phenolic Plate, as the starting point of a system, the table top should be flat, durable and stable, incorporating scale track and mitre tracks will ensure that your table is upgradeable to take a LE Router Fence or a UniLIFT at a later stage, we can assist with construction notes and ideas. Q: Whiteside Router Bits don't have the coloured coating many other bits have why?
A: Whiteside Router Bits are supplied au natural that is without the so called Teflon coating, this allows you the user to see the quality of the brazing between the bit and the Tungsten tip and to see the quality of the overall product. Many coloured coatings generally just cover up poor workmanship. Product Manuals.
